Very conveniently avoided which foreign entities supported the KMT and financed the militarisation and anti-communist, pro-American retheoric in Taiwan, and there was simply no mention of the decades of White Terror and imposition of martial law and political repression, lol. God knows why, by now, “the current generation of Taiwanese are historically and culturally separated from the Chinese”. Yes, it was a moderately successful brainwashing project, I agree. I don’t agree with it because of morals, but that’s just me, I guess. Okay, “the long-standing current establishment” was ’ engineered’ (you didn’t like the word created) with the same "thorn in their side/military base idea in mind. FFS, there used to be a “United States Taiwan Defense Command”, and to this day there are US military personnel stationed in Taiwan.
