There’s an old saying that goes, “One is the loneliest number.” Non-programmers usually start counting at one, making it the first number in the count.
Programmers generally have to start counting at 0. So to them, the first number is 0. So the joke is that a non-programmer would say “one is the loneliest number” a programmer would say “zero is the loneliest number” because the numbers they start with when counting are different.
Because programmers start counting at 0! 😆

Not totally related, but even though it’s tempting to kick those cube-shaped HP MicroServers across the datacenter, they’re actually a lot more dense than they look.

Whenever anyone suggests playing Monopoly I always insist on following the rules as written. (Auctions, no money on Free Parking, building evenly across properties, when there’s no more houses left in the bank no one can build houses, etc.) The game goes a little faster that way… because everyone eventually agrees to quit and play something else.
FWIW the suffix -poda means “feet.” So the panda family’s name literally translates as “cat-like-feet”! 🐱 🦶
The prefix ailuro- does mean cat, in much the same way that the word “felis” means cat.
But I’m not enough of a pedant to try to argue the point though – in our crazy, anything goes modern world, people use whole words in place of prefixes all the time, and that’s okay: languages change! Just like ailuro- used to be Greek, and then got pulled into Latin! 😆
