this is me but i don’t care about linux
if the best time to switch is always today then if i put it off till tomorrow it will be even better right?
based
which is good, to be clear
no user should be able to accidentally brick their entire system just because some internet troll told them to type some magic words :P massive security flaw
it’s an entirely different implementation which is integrated into the windows system and settings itself not just a ps script. read the link in OP for more.
it uses the UAC flow so it’s closer to right click > run as administrator than runas
, so you will be required to enter credentials in the UAC dialogue (not the terminal) unless you are using an admin account (which at any workplace taking security seriously you should not be)
and in powershell it’s $$ to execute the previous command :)
disclaimer: not an admin i just use these tools
Yes and it should be worse. OpenAI should be forced to take on the cost of compensating every copyright holder it exploited. If that means OpenAI doesn’t exist I’m absolutely okay with that.
please give me the lobbing machine 🙏

is this a trusted outlet? at least we can be pretty sure a human wrote it ha ha ha
more than half of visitors leave a page if they’re forced to wait longer than 3 seconds
and it’s not outlandish to suggest that length decreases every year.
Agree to all, but just to add clarity, there is existing Mandarin LGBT content that was posted prior to the US influx. If there is moderation of queer voices going on, it’s a a similar level to what we are already familiar with from Meta and TikTok, not significantly more.
I sacrificed my soul to go over and check it out, immediately followed a bunch of LGBT creators of both US and Chinese locale. Nothing I followed or liked seems to have been removed yet, so just giving my two honest cents on that. The stuff that gets removed appears to be mainly Chinese politics and that’s it.
Is it the perfect protest solution? Naw.
Is it better than Musk and Zuckerberg getting a shit ton of free revenue from their corruption? Yea.
Is it funny as fuck? YUPP LMAO
i agree (and this comment here)
me, here take your own hehe
i see this a lot but this is a misconception. “threadiverse” originally was a term to describe the “threaded fediverse” i.e. Reddit-like platforms like Lemmy and kbin. Bluesky and Threads are not threadiverse because they operate on the microblog model not the threaded link aggregation model. this usage has nothing to do with the then non-fediverse related Meta project “Threads” and can be seen predating it.

i’m with you.
there are absolutely multiple things leading to an alienation of users and distro squabbles is just one, which i agree is insignificant.
the real thing posts like this betray is the deeper pattern of disdain and coldness even toward those on the “in group.” there is virtually no sense of camaraderie or mutual respect in the community. rtfm culture and one-up-manship are something of the default here, with user experience, accessibility, and user facing documentation falling deeply into the wayside.
Yall wonder why the desktop Linux community hasn’t grown as much as you wish and then upvote stuff like this
The constant superiority struggles do nothing but alienate most computer users
slight off topic but trying to contribute positively
ooh its always so interesting to come across these. writing clear and effective english is a learned skill that isn’t the same as writing “correct” english. the author seems to rely heavily on indirect and passive phrases and poor preposition use which leads to a wandering feeling:
here’s the same quote, “fixed”:
it’s possible english isn’t the author’s first language, or they simply don’t have the communications education you are used to seeing in journalism. at least you know it’s not ai though :)
