I suppose. I was thinking more of 1 Chinese company just spinning up a hundred copy/paste apps.

Sounds about right, From my understanding, they singled out TikTok instead of addressing the actual problem they claim to care about.
[Edit, another comment says its any app with 1million users. So now there’s just going to be a hundred TikTok clones all under the same umbrella just different names.]
Oh boy, I can’t wait for a completely boring corporate introduction devoid of any creativity due to the last ipad’s controversy!
The other lawyer in the case, Attorney Tom made a video going over what they are sueing for and some of the misconceptions.
People have a claim due to lost profits and potentially missed business opportunities.
Let’s Youtuber A had a sponsor affiliate and a spoken ad spot. Creator makes 2k for the sponsor read and 2% every time someone buys something via link. Honey swoops in and steals the affiliate link (regardless if the user got a coupon or not). The creator no longer getting the 2% and skews the success of the ad.
The creator’s ad performance (ad to finished transaction) is down, so sponsor lowers the commission to 1% and 1.5k for the next video. Enough people use honey and the metrics are bad enough the sponsor doesn’t renew contract with the creator.
On the consumer end, which due to arbitration clauses the lawyers aren’t actively pursuing (at this time) (see linked video).
Oof, you gotta find that FBI post (might have a different 3 letter agency) said that adbock is required for safe browsing. Tell them users can’t click on malware ads if there’s no malware ads to click.
The problem with firing the ones who argued for opt-out is that it wouldn’t leave anyone else because they already fired the ones who argued for opt-in.
No, spread the word. Now you know Asus pre-builts are trash. Even if you dont care about Asus, someone was about to hit the buy button and avoided a cooperate scam.
it didn’t come back. But will do.
Yeah, when I saw that shit I had a mini heart attack. Opened up process explorer to identify what was running. Found it was Asus and basically said “huh, how are you still here - delete”
That’s the only reason I can think you’d want a digital license plate, to change it on demand.
Its just e-waste.
For me the downside is the precedent it sets. Yes, most of us agree getting rid of TikTok is a good thing, but how long until they start banning other sites “for the children”? How long until they target federated sites they can’t control “for the children”?
To top it off, it doesn’t solve the data harvesting problem their so scared of with TikTok. They only care about that one because the data is going to China. Instagram and others can stay because they are American companies spying on citizens.
The recent macbooks are heading back in the right direction.
I think a lot of the complants come from wanting a portable computer/setup, and having a hub or a bunch of adapters takes away the portability.
I think the ideal I/O for me would be;
This is where I like framework approach with the customizable IO, but I think they need to shrink the blocks to give 6-8 ports. 4 is simply not enough, with one used up for power.
The one with the lightning connector that none of their new devices have and there’s a million 3rd party options for old phones?
Gee what a surprise they don’t want to make them anymore!!! /s
Don’t over think it, call is the Augmented Reality Sunlight Absorption Headset with AI.
I know their article is bogus, but I could see some one trying claiming this…
“Omg this peanut butter didn’t say it contained peanut butter, so I thought it was safe for little Billy. Now he’s dead and its all their fault for not labeling the peanut butter properly”
Probably 10 minutes, but by that point they had to double down for the shareholders and as long as everyone copied, they were good.
As someone who needs GPS a lot for work, having it on the large display is very nice. I think the sweet spot is around 7 inches; big enough for maps, but leave enough space for everything else.
The best is when they display the “next step” right on the dash. Too bad my work vehicle doesn’t do that.
Happens to me all the time too, I’ll open it via the notification and it just won’t show up.
Or I’ll delete an email about 5 time until its finally gone.
So they are replacing windows mail with Microsoft outlook, which was replaced by windows mail years ago (well not really 100% true, its fun to think of it that way)
Although, to be fair, maintaining two mail clients is pretty stupid.
If they can stop pushing all the separate half baked “new”/"beta/“work” versions of mail and teams, and just update them so everyone’s on the same garbage apps, that would be great.
I think it’ll be okay, Honey was actually making money from the manipulation without user knowlage.
Adblocks don’t make money and users are (should be) aware that tracking links and stuff gets removed.
