  • Also in the game, literally a third of the NPCs aren’t white or British. Half of the student companion quests are about students who aren’t white. They talk about other countries and the other schools all the time in side dialog. Four of your teachers aren’t even from Britain in the game.

I really feel like they tried to distance it as much as possible from JK’s harry potter and I honestly kinda liked it.

But I do still understand that a small portion of what I paid for the game went to Rowling and I do feel a little bad about it. But most of it went to the studio that made it, some went to Steam.

  • I played on PC, and had a great time. Like the other person said, it wasn’t intended for such a casual machine.

I really liked the interactive items, even though they were useless. It was fun to try roleplaying as a student sometimes. I didn’t find the enemies to be too clustered either. My personal favorite thing was flying around on the broom. The game world is pretty big so you have plenty of room to just do your thing.

I wish. I will say that the devs understood that JK is an absolute piece of shit, and put things in the game that would probably piss her off specifically.

There’s at least one lesbian witch couple (who are married, and somewhat interracial), and then there is a confirmed trans witch in the game as well. Playing the game I thought “this is just a big middle finger to Rowling.”

  • I tried out every weapon I could. I leveled each weapon that I could as well, cause I liked seeing what I would get and how I liked playing with it.

I ended up being pretty balanced in play styles and how I leveled my character. Last time I played I was like level 150-something, just to see how high I could go. You start getting very diminishing returns around 120 or so, getting only one point per level, and each of those points only increasing a fraction of each skill.

  • Damn, I’m surprised to see a Lunacid post on Lemmy

Edit: I recently did a playthrough with a vampire character. I kinda power-leveled some stats though, basically just running my way up and down the game’s entire map killing enemies over and over. I got into a decent rhythm for the combat because I had a decent enough Dex so I would just jump to dodge certain attacks if I couldn’t kite them.

Certain spells can be pretty OP throughout the game if you focus on your magic skills. Flame Spear can honestly carry you through most of the game if you focus entirely on magic.

All that said I actually liked the Vampire “class” as it felt a bit more forgiving for most of the game (except the sewer area). I’m kinda working on collecting all the items so I can get the last ending.

  • That’s why a lot of people didn’t engage with the lore of Destiny - you had to go to a website totally separate from the game, link your account old-school Bungie style, and could only access the grimoire cards from said site after you went through the hoops. There was nothing in the game giving you more aside from the NPCs and the few cutscenes themselves. Not even a link to take you to the site from the game itself.

Almost every other game has an in-game lore/info screen talking about the world and characters of the game.
