I think you’re absolutely right. When these studios go public and start having pressure from shareholders, it starts the gradual decline in quality.

Goodwill with your playerbase doesn’t show up on a quarterly report, but without it your company is sunk.

It’s incredible that a company with the resources of Ubisoft couldn’t figure that out, even with people shouting it at them daily.

This makes me feel like there will be a large group of retro gamers who will prefer the artisan, human-made games of the past, but ultimately a younger gen audience that won’t know the difference or care.

I’ve kept a beard for years, but I’ve always trimmed and maintained it short enough that this isn’t a problem, with the bonus that it also doesn’t look scraggly. It’s a happy medium.

I think I have this game and just haven’t played it! Will definitely go in blind.

I’m still trying to chase that feeling with games today, but there aren’t many that are confident enough to challenge us in the same way.

I love that “peak of mount Everest” moment when you truly feel like you’ve “beaten” a game rather than “finished” it.

People use it as slang for doing something in the most basic way without protection/assistance/augmentation, etc.
