Liar.

I pirated the DLC, it’s not really worth it
I feel a little judged now…
They weren’t kidding when they said “different from Pathfinder and Rogue trader”. This is VERY different.
This is absolutely the best non-comedy Lesley Nielsen movie. Poor man already had the same haircut even back then.
massive choices on where the story goes based on your responses,
Really? What massive choices do you make? Hunter or emissary? That just changes the last 20 minutes of the game. Before then, you have no major impact on the plot.
the capabilities to befriend or antagonize any enemy whether a human, alien, or these strange pirates
But you don’t. You can’t befriend the pirates, there arent really any strange aliens, and you can’t antagonize most friends.
You deal with politics, survival,
Do you? There’s some minor “deal with this for me” stuff from the factions, but that’s hardly politics.
And survival isn’t an issue in the game at all, even though you can see the scrapped leftovers from it.
attempting to save the galaxy while trying to discover the hidden story.
The “hidden story” is spelled out and telegraphed in the main questline. It’s not a souls like where you piece it together, they literally tell you to your face
I maintain that if they didn’t bother with the space thing, or abstracted it more to a “blip on a screen” type of topdown play like in mass effect, it would be a better game. They could have spent that time on the shooter gameplay loop not being shit.
Turning my phone vertical as we speak!

Or the C&C3 Renegade game
The concept is “yet another extraction shooter”, and half of the reveal trailer is AI slop…
What if you remade the Jumanji remake, but instead of actually writing, you just fill 2 hours with references and “haha just kidding” jokes.

Games don’t use catch-up mechanics anymore, because those take time. In the old days, if you played CTF or objective-push maps, there would be an automatic catch-up in that the side losing would get closer to their spawn. Now, that’s all gone.
And MOBA is even worse, because it has escalation mechanics. If you lose a small edge at the start, you lose big later.
I have a completely different view on this.
I HATE when we take a “camera perspective” instead of an “eye perspective”. I don’t like exaggerated contrast, because that’s what cameras do, not what eyes do. The world doesn’t look like that, unless you view it through a camera. For the same reason, I can’t stand lens-flares and I’m really not a fan of focus-shifts unless they’re natural. I don’t like abberation, because my eyes don’t do that. Motion blur is even worse, and having it absolutely minimized is preferable. It’s especially bad when first-person videogames do it, and then add film-grain on top. I don’t understand why films are still mostly shot at 24fps, I love the rare few films that are shown at 60fps. It’s basically the only redeeming feature of the new Avatar movie.
I don’t want to see someone work a camera, I want to see the scene. That doesn’t mean I like grey, because the world has a TON of colour, but it also doesn’t mean I like the unrealistically high contrasts.
The US war of independence started mostly because super rich shipowners didn’t like the idea of tea not having to be transported to London first, but could come directly from India and Indonesia.
That would save a ton of money for the American colonists, but it would cut out all those wealthy shipowners (and smugglers) who ran the London-America routes.
So they lied to the people do their dirty work for them.
The Dark Crystal is basically a Henson muppet movie about genocide.
This is basically exactly what Vintage Story does. And it’s working extremely well for them
