…well, hopefully it’s better at politics than we are.
Though, if that bar was any lower it’d be passing through the planet core.
I mean, nowadays consoles are just a PC with glasses and a moustache… It’d be great if we moved away from physical consoles and more towards digital platforms so that the gaming industry is less fragmented.
Basically officially supported and updated roms/emulators. Or just skip that and make Nintendo and such something akin to Steam.
They’re purchasing influence over the POTUS. The event itself doesn’t matter to them or Trump; it’s just one many pathways to get their bribe into his pockets.
Completely legal, cuz our laws are made by folks who are also for sale.
If Enderal isn’t on your radar yet, that is reason to buy Skyrim.
Total conversion mod that uses Skyrim’s assets to build a completely new game (lore, characters, terrain, voice acting, etc are new, and have nothing to do with the Elder Scrolls universe).
It’s crazy impressive for an indie dev crew’s passion project.
Completely free, provided you own Skyrim.
…in an it was the worst thing ever kind of way - cuz that meant it was over Q_Q
Especially in the era before just looking shit up on the internet when you hit a snag. I remember scouring levels in that looking for a path that I’d missed when I couldn’t figure out where I was supposed to go next.
Definitely a highlight of the N64 for me. It’s up there with the Zeldas in my book.
My parents didn’t let me buy any shooter games other than jet force gemini
At least you landed on solid gold! Jet Force Gemini was the single best shooter for the N64. Far superior to Golden Eye. Yes, I’ll die on this hill.
These games were a highlight of my childhood. That said, I’ve tried to revisit them, and by today’s standards, they did NOT age well. Trying to remaster these would be a massive undertaking - I’ll be cheering for them, though.
When I was a teen I played WoW from vanilla through Cata… Had over a full year of in game /played time on just my main.
…and I made a lot of alts.
100% full-blown addicted.
Blizzard is actually the one example of enshittification that I can actually be thankful for - I didn’t really ever quit; they just stopped supplying my drug of choice. They definitely had the power to keep me enthralled, but instead shifted to a younger and younger target audience as I was ofc aging the opposite direction.
The Kung-Fu-Panda xpac trailer was finally my cue to accept that my dealer wasn’t going to provide that fix anymore.
Then I started making healthy life decisions discovered Ark >_<
Edit - …Ark owned my life for a bit, too:
Igorrr
Nope, they’ve flown under my radar until now. Didn’t scratch the itch I was shooting for, but that did awaken a completely new one - I fucking loved the one you linked!! Will definitely be going down that rabbit hole. I haven’t heard much Arabic influence in metal… only one that comes to mind is the intro of Blind Guardian’s Wheel of Time (which is one of my all time favorites!). If you’ve got more along those lines, please share! In the mean time I’ll be doing a deep dive on Igorrr!
Bullet for My Valentine
Familiar with them. Never really cared for BfMV… always struck me as the musical equivalent of a pouty teenager after being told to clean their room, lol. They’ve got enough redeeming content in most songs that I wouldn’t say I dislike them either, but it all ads up to kinda just break even at good enough to not bother skipping it when they pop up in a list, but not good enough to ever actually seek them out.
…typing kinda slow cuz my brain is fried, so in the time it took to make this comment I’m on my 4th Igorrr song and JESUS FUCKING CHRIST those guys are all over the damn place lol. 10/10
Portal if you want to pass the controller, Portal 2 if you want multiplayer. Both great options for what you’re describing.
Lots of talk about which search engine to use; surprisingly little talk about extensions.
Block or Highlight Search Engine Results is my personal recommendation. Whichever SE you use, when you see a result that’s AI slop or a garbage website like Forbes, just add bullshit.com
to the filter, set to hide, and you’ll never see that trash in a search result ever again.
Be diligent about it for a good week or so, and your search result quality will absolutely explode, whether your using Google, DDG, or several others.
/shrug. No insight on the effectiveness of the design; that’s just what’s in use now.
Lol wut. Surgeons bitch when they’re wearing so much as a headlamp. A bulky-ass VR headset will never be a thing in the operating room beyond the odd techy doctor who’s in a VR infatuation phase.
The Davinci surgical robot has a VR headset kinda built into it so surgeons can see in 3D when they’re doing robotic assisted surgeries, but that’s not something they wear : it’s a little station they sit at and just lean forward into, no straps or weight or anything.
That was both hilarious and painful.
And I don’t mean to always hate on it - the tech is useful in some contexts, I just can’t stand that we call it ‘intelligence’.
Probably because that’s the common expectation due to calling it “AI”. We’re well past the point of putting the lid back on that can of worms, but we really should have saved that label for… y’know… intelligence, that’s artificial. People think we’ve made an early version of Halo’s Cortana or Star Trek’s Data, and not just a spellchecker on steroids.
The day we make actual AI is going to be a really confusing one for humanity.
What did I get flipped?
Legality vs morality
Why wouldn’t torrenting the source code of proprietary software would be a legal issue?
It would be a legal issue. But it’s not a moral issue, which is why so few people are showing sympathy for Nintendo. They lose nothing if someone gets a copy of the code - there’s no victim. They do however have a LONG reputation for weaponizing the legal system by attacking fans with frivolous lawsuits - those DO have a victim, and are therefore a moral issue with Nintendo as the aggressor.
But regardless of context, again don’t conflate legality with morality. Ever. History is absolutely stuffed with atrocities that adhere to established law, that doesn’t make those atrocities okay. Videogame code is pretty minescule compared to legal attrocities like slavery or the holocost etc, but point remains that the law in-and-of-itself doesn’t mean shit.
Also fuck Nintendo.
Explanation: they weren’t using an (functional) ad blocker for some reason.
