Wouldn’t something like a T1000 (50w/8GB) be okay? I know I use a much older matrox card (30w?/ w/ even lower TDP) for this purpose. It’s not great, but it transcodes in hardware.

Just a possibility: Check if the m2 slot is for disk. There are many boards where there are WiFi exclusive m2 ports. For disks there are also m2 sata and m2 nvme port variations. You need to find out what yours are. Consult your motherboards technical documentation if in doubt. If the BIOS can boot from it, Linux can too.
Edit: that beeing said I never encountered problems with a similar setup ( I boot from Linux on nvme m2 then there is a combined windows /data disk)
In typical MS fashion this might be very hard to debug with the hundreds of interacting components./s
In all seriousness they reviewed their internal docs not even the code (likely because it’s extremely complex) and said fixing this would brake existing functionality. I think “some cases” is doing heavy lifting for “we know many cases, but won’t tell the bad guys out there”.
“We originally looked at a code change for this issue, but after further review of design documentation, changes to code could break compatibility with functionality used by many applications.”
Year of the Linux (Server|Desktop). Seriously. If you are in IT pls look into this (and hide your RDP server behind some VPN. No not MS RDP Gateway.)
I guess the actor of Shazam beeing an alt-right MAGA dickhead hasn’t helped the situation.
I used a Fairphone 4 with /e/ and it was good. Not great, but useable. I expect the hardware bugs I ran into (using the camera only worked like 20 times before the phone needed a restart, Bluetooth randomly not working) to be ironed out by now. Currently on an old Samsung and it is more solid, but I also liked the environmentalism with the fairphone. Anyone with a Fairphone 5 and something like a glucose sensor thats in constant use?
Yea thats how my spouses laptop ended up with fedora and our main/gaming PC ended up with Nobara. For some reason certain distros and certain configurations do not go well with each other.
At this occasion I think it adds to the insanity. It makes it look like the nurse is a pationt too, with her trying to roll away a normal chair
4090s are what price now? Didn’t keep track, I’m astonished. never thought I’d see the day when Apples RAM pricing is seen as competitive.
Just FYI: The “Mac Studio” when equipped with 32-core M3Ultra processors can have up to 512GB of RAM.
It costs like 15k after taxes, so not exactly the scope of this thread, but it exists.
Thank you for taking the time!
Feel you. my 8 yr old alt (my only account left) mysteriously has had a total karma of zero.
Since shortly after election strangely enough. Wonder what happened there /s.
Oooh, that sounds like an interesting read. Do you happen to have the DOI?
Doesn’t even have to be Apple, the wife and I are on different carriers and I saw the same shenanigans happening.
Signal app or Threema or really any other independent messaging app (except whatsapp, strangely) solved the issue.
Well here is the CEO of Blackstone saying Donald trump will save the stocks because a vote for him is a vote for change
Just YSK, vlan is not a security measure. It enumerates Ethernet packages with a number different than zero, and you can see all vlans if the network card decides it. So if some other device on your net is compromised, there is a chance traffic to your vulnerable box can be too. ( it gets a little more complicated with vlan aware switches in the middle. But not impossible)
Edit: BTW I feel you I too have a bit of older hardware thats on their own net where I just hope nothing bad happens til I come around to replacing it…
As someone who switched to Linux, and found reasons not to for literal decades, this has helped me:
Have a second ssd in your PC that is untarnished by the windows bootloader.
This way one can easily switch via BIOS / UEFI and no other annoying software.
Dual booting is also less annoying, if you switch via boot menu. It lets you test drive and configure Linux anytime you’re in the headspace for it and reduces pressure on yourself.
Install linux on it. My current favorite for your situation would be Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Spin (what a mouthful). Have another exfat partitioned usb disk ready for file exchange with windows. Again, this makes handling windows easier, has nothing to do with linux.
Nvidia on fedora works good enough. third party repos also help a lot.
streamdeck is wonderful hardware, I know a friend who uses it daily with streamdeck_ui
This is to my knowledge as close to “official” as you can get. Good luck on your journey!
Twittwr link to video , to anyone curious like me. The render looks like CNSA is about as well funded as NASA.
Same. The basic stuff works and i managed to replace recipes with nextcloud cookbook but its quite heavy caldav notes and tasks support on ios would be wonderful but i couldnt find something that integrates into our workflow and systems.
Archive.org has you covered.
Nothing really interesting just a user stating it has happened to them.
