I cancelled my subscription a few years ago when I inherited a bunch of trades to read. I’m done all the ones I was interested in now, maybe I should sub again…
You should read Peter David’s run on X-Factor, when they’re a PI company. Probably the best run I found on there during my 5 year subscription. :)
Captain America and Thunderbolts are looking sweet to me.
Don’t bother with your why-marvel-sucks arguments I’ve heard em all and I don’t care.
I found a 2010 MacBook in a recycle bin. I happened to have a spare charger at home.
I took it, installed Linux, and now I have 3 rescued laptops brought back to life with Linux.
3 more and I’m going to start hosting LAN parties (WAN parties, I guess)
It’s not just comments and I’m not talking just about me.
You and I and Mel Brooks all know that the common person is a moron.
Algorithms push misinformation. Bots push information. Are we limiting free speech by saying “you can’t use algorithms and bots to spread lies”?
Does lying count as free speech?
For example: I used to like Facebook for seeing what my friends are up to. It’s not that any more. I would be rid of it but I’m a freelancer and a lot of my clients insist on using it.
Now it’s a constant feed of shit I didn’t subscribe to designed to stoke the culture war. Even the shit I did follow way back when I still used it a lot now shows me posts designed to make people argue. It’s like 5 posts I didn’t ask for to every one that did. I’m smart enough to see it, but is everyone?
Ok, now I argue that the constant bombardment of misinformation and hate speech we face online and through the media clearly affects people’s ability to live their lives, and is no different than the guy talking my ear off at work.
I’m not saying they can’t express themselves. I’m just saying that we don’t have to listen, but with the current state of things we’re being forced to listen.
I mean, sure, but does that mean people get to express themselves everywhere all the time?
I go to work and there’s always a couple fuckers who bring up their hateful opinions in a “I’m not racist but,” way.
It affects my productivity when I have to hear that bullshit all day while trying to get them to stop in a diplomatic way.
I can’t say it so directly, but it’s not censorship to say “shut up and let me work”
From what I understand this is a problem with FAT32 formatted drives specifically since it doesn’t use the Linux file system. Reformatting is not an option at the moment.
What this does is give my user ownership when you plug in a usb device, which allows rw.
I have it set up to mount on startup, but it mounts to root ownership. Now, I remount it and the owner becomes my user.
I honestly can’t remember what I did to make it happen, but it always mounts to /mnt/drivename
I’m using this for a Jellyfin server. Before I added this rule, I couldn’t add folders past the drive itself as a library, so I see this as progress. I just want to edit meta data now.
Edit: I do have it in my fstab file listed by device ID with these settings:
LABEL=drivename /mnt/drivename/ auto rw,user,exec,nofail,x-gvfs-show,dev,auto 0 0
It thought it’s because of they don’t release a Spider-Man movie every few years they lose the rights
Cool. Barbie was great.
You mean like how the entire western internet is banned in China?
100%
Social media 15 years ago: cat pics and friends.
Social media today: shit you didn’t subscribe to, but shows up anyway to push wedge issues in to things you enjoy.
My introduction to Kraven was the 90s animated series. Since then I’ve read a bunch of comic runs with him.
He’s a cool character, but I don’t have high hopes for any of these Sony Spider-Villain movies.
His best story is that one from the 80s where he buries Spider-Man and starts pretending to be him. I can’t remember the name of it…
Edit: Kraven’s Last Hunt. 🤦♂️
Actually, OneDrive works great on Mac.
Or it did in 2021 when I finished school. I stopped using it when my tuition stopped paying for it.
No annoying pop-ups on Mac OS, just a folder that would sync automatically. I could drop school work through the browser and it would be on my drive by the time I got home.
If they had just set SNW on a new ship post-DS9 I would be happy.
Keep the cast, change the character names, put it on a new ship. Enough with the nostalgia-milking already!
Rip out whatever transmitters they put in?
As a patient gamer, I only buy older games on sale under ten bucks. I don’t replay games too often, so if I lose access it’s a big whatever.
Yeah, after Aliens (I like it better than the first one) the franchise went downhill. I still like the newer movies, but that James Cameron guy really seems like he knows a thing a two about how to make a good movie.
Huh. Yeah I haven’t followed it that closely, but I seem to remember talk around the releases of those movies that they were part of a trilogy of Ridley Scott directed prequels.
Maybe I’m misremembering, and I haven’t seen Romulus yet, but it doesn’t seem like part of that trilogy from the trailers. 🤷♂️
It’s cheaper than a beer at a bar. 🤷♂️
That’s my rationale when a friend wants me to play <random game>
