  • Sometimes this kind of people sounds like they believe in the Bible and prophecies as impersonal laws of nature, and not in an intelligent creator of any sort.

Kind of. If a supreme being set into motion certain universal laws and always thwarted them for the benefit of this or that, one or group, the laws would be arbitrary, thus pointless. It’s up to us to let the pressures d/evolve us according to the idea of (a limited by circumstances and variables) somewhat free will. Some believers consider the most ignorant and slavish among ourselves closer to God than the most refined with the most spiritual knowledge and/or means. Iow it’s not the means but how they are utilized.

  • Recently I watched a video of a content creator in SA with a can of Rhodes beans on her counter on the bg and wondered if it was connected to Cecil… This article reminded me of this and an old sci fi novel about a company recruiting for Martian colonists, who ended up becoming slaves. I can’t remember the title or author, but we already see Leon making earth slaves, his family business is earth slaves, so only the poorest informed would go for this, or those who think they are Leon’s equals? I’m probably missing something, I ate well and it’s nap time.

  • Yes! We had persimmon, pear, fig, apple and crabapple trees, blackberry and muskidine about, and there were peach orchards nearby. Life was so simple and good back then. And we didn’t mind helping in the kitchen, garden and house. On Saturday nights regular granny started cooking, stopped long enough to take us kids to Sunday school and church, then we all came back to her house and each kid helped finish cooking, whether laying biscuits on the pan, putting mac n cheese together. Even toddlers set the table and put ice in glasses, folded hand-sewn napkins. They did so much for us we didn’t appreciate until we were grown!
