I once had to modify some COBOL code. It’s a highly organized language, not terrible. But because it’s old there’s a shortage of people now who are good at it or want to learn it. You pretty much have to decide your career is going to be working on old code.
+1 - the word “loathe” doesn’t get used often enough. The only time I remember hearing it in a movie was in Sixteen Candles.

You can limit the visits to a domain. The honeypot doesn’t register infinite new domains.

I would simply add links to a list when visited and never revisit any. And that’s just simple web crawler logic, not even AI. Web crawlers that avoid problems like that are beginner/intermediate computer science homework.

You can detect pathpoints that come up repeatedly and avoid pursuing them further, which technically aren’t called “infinite loop” detection but I don’t know the correct name. The point is that the software isn’t a Star Trek robot that starts smoking and bricks itself when it hears something illogical.
OTOH infinite loop detection is a well known coding issue with well known, freely available solutions, so this approach will only affect the lamest implementations of AI,

Haven’t seen these but my solution would be just don’t watch the video. These ads may be unskippable but they aren’t un-watch-something-else-able.

Valid point but I would rather miss shorts from channels I subscribe to than see blurbs for all the endless others.
Interesting, I just scrolled through 10 or 15 pages of my youtube feed and there wasn’t a Short to be found. Maybe it takes some time to happen, I forget. Or you might have to click Not Interested more if you’ve already watched a lot of Shorts - I had only watched like 3. and they were accidental.
When you forgot to educate your people well enough so you don’t have to worry about what they see.
