Ever wanted to be somewhere inbetween java and JavaScript?
Yeah, that’s Groovy. Only it’s the wrong groove
I recognise that internet router on the right. That looks like the “smart router” Telstra gives their customers - we have one we used to use back when we had Telstra cable. It’s currently playing the duty of an Ethernet switch for dad’s office.
I finally switched to AMD on my main desktop. Holy crap does it just work. I went straight for hyprland over my previous XFCE based desktop.
I enjoy tinkering so having some programs that just work and some that need a little push is great for me. Gaming is pretty easy these days - games that straight up don’t run I just don’t buy, and protonDB or even the proton issue tracker and wineDB for tips and tricks.
However with DEs I tend to set one up, and keep it how I set it up. I had XFCE for a total of 3 years with no changes. Hopefully I can do the same with Hyprland. I usually only try a new one when reinstalling Linux.
In a same but more drastic vein, you’d have to chop me up and shit In my corpse before I switch back to windows on my home PCs, it’s bad enough I have to use win10 at work imo (I ain’t installing win11 there untill I’m forced to)
Fork it on a different platform - GitLab or something like it - we really should diversify our code repos. Microsoft has too much power with GitHub
How did you fix it?
“We didn’t, but at some point he started spending more time at my house trying to diagnose the problem than he did at his own place. Eventually we just decided to move in together”
Android or some other Linux based os on iPhone hardware anyone?
The question is, what brand? Duracell?, Eveready?, Energizer?
Oh my pkcell…
Nor the cash to increase the bandwidth capacity to do so.
At one point it was the top dog - this was before google was even in the browser market mind you. Then they entered and used a lot of… Shall we say interesting marketing practices to usurp firefoxes dominant position - it wasn’t all due to chrome being better.
If you’re the only one who has that issue, or it’s very uncommon, then it’s more likely a software or hardware configuration issue or some corruption on your systems part.
Just saying this, when I used to run windows, weird bugs like that as a cue to do a complete reinstall of windows. Usually would fix every problem I’d been having with every app to date.
Even now deleting everything associated to Firefox and reinstalling the app would probably fix it. The other thing to do is to keep an eye on the behaviour of your browser after installing extensions. Sometimes extensions themselves can cause weird problems.
I think he always believed his own hype. Heck there was a point where I was somewhat into his hype.
Though I never liked Tesla’s interior design philosophy of “just put all the controls on a giant tablet and call it a day”
Truth is we didn’t know enough about him to gain an opinion. So imaginations ran wild. I mean there are people who have been saying how bad he was since the whole PayPal thing. It’s just those companies weren’t big enough at the time for it to gain any gravity in the public eye.
Then Tesla and spaceX happened, and people thought what he was doing was awesome, because a lot of it was and it was easy to look past the parts that weren’t.
Now however the fact he can’t keep his mouth shut and has become a twitter addict has kinda ruined our public opinion on him. If he had just stayed quiet and not bothered with the whole buying twitter thing, people might not care much about him. And the Epstein stuff and affairs and shit didn’t help him one bit. He’s right to mistrust the media - that shit is like a gourmet breakfast for them.
Basically he revealed himself in the public for what he truly is. A cold blooded greedy ass tycoon with an ego the size of the planets he’s trying to colonise, with a modern style nerd-hipster science theming and old school conservative ideals.
Though usually not long after that point you start to ask yourself “Why the fuck did I get myself into this mess”
At least untill you refactor something, and the act of refactoring, even though it shouldn’t logically cause any problems, causes everything to break.
Except I’m dead certain you can buy screens a lot larger than 4.2 inches - the 6 inch screen behind the Kobo Clara HD is actually all over AliExpress and eBay, and it has a backlight and is not marketed for as a replacement for the eReader. Kobo just glues a thin metal plate and a battery to it for rigidity, but otherwise it’s identical. And there are a fair number of other screens you can find online in various sizes if you want to get them working.
The hard part is getting data sheets or reverse engineering them. But it’s far from impossible.
Peertube is a great platform. And it has its uses. But it will never compete with YouTube - YouTube’s business model actively incentivises and pays people to post media to their platform.
Peertube is more likely to be to be the opposite - donation run, and given videos are exponentially more expensive to host, it’s highly unlikely that creators will receive any compensation for their work. In fact it’s more likely theyl be in the list of people donating to the platform (or they’ll own the platform outright)
While this might be fine if a creator makes the majority of its money elsewhere, via patreon or sponsors or whatever, it’s not going to work out for any aspiring or up and coming YouTube who has yet to become big enough to start diversifying their income base.
Except they could totally fit a radio compatible with rear view cameras in a standard double din area, with a decent enough sized touch screen.
My double din aftermarket stereo I installed in my '07 Fiesta XR4 (ST150 for those not in Australia) is fully capable of all the inputs a modern connected stereo has, and more. It has an almost 7 inch touchscreen, has tactile media controls on the front and inputs for front, rear and a third camera, along with RCA’s for Amplifiers and subwoofers. It also supports Bluetooth, Wifi and 4G via user provided SIM(although I don’t use the 4G - I just hotspot it to my phone via WiFi) it also has Apple carplay and Android Auto supported.
Best part is it runs full fat android 10 and supports OBDII readers, meaning it’s a built in scantool for my car.
My preferred setup in any car is tactile aircon controls, steering wheel controls, and tactile media buttons on the head unit. I don’t like touch screens because you usually have to take your eyes off the road to use them. which is dangerous. Tactile controls are better because you can usually tell what they are just by feel and therefore don’t have to look away from the road to use them.
So if it has one, I prefer it not be Tesla sized. I’d say 10 inches is my maximum, and small enough to fit in a double din is my ideal size. Especially given no two stock head units are the same, and some better than others - I’d like the opportunity to upgrade it if necessary without having to rip half my damned dashboard apart.
My current car you could slide out stereo using with 4 euro type head unit removal keys (you can however use some steak knives in a pinch if you don’t want to spend the $2-10 for the keys) no dash disassembly needed.
Yt-dlp is the successor for YouTube-dl I believe you can have it function as a drop-in replacement if want to.
The world shall be… Rusty.
