Nah, Vine was top shit.
Nah, Vine was top shit.
(Or $24, if you’d prefer.)
Is 256gb RAM enough for YouTube?

Yeah, I’m looking to switch from iPhone to Pixel soon, but I’ll be keeping my AM sub. Had it since the day it launched, and it’s been great.
Yeah, I’m aware of both of them but have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out how to get them to work. I’m fairly new to Linux, and the instructions for both seem to assume a certain amount of expertise.
Oh, and as I type this I’ve remembered that I did manage to get one of them to work, but something to do with the way it downloads the videos means that you need to install a Plex plugin of some description because Plex won’t recognise the metadata or some shit.
So for the time being I’m happy enough to fanny about with my manual method. Between my wife and I it takes up about ten minutes every couple of days, and that’s ok.
It’s a bit of a faff, but I use FreeTube to grab the URLs which I then drop into a yt-dlp command that I use to download my subscriptions to watch on Plex on my Apple TV. Works a treat, though I wish I could get Plex to display them properly.
Super ironic that Apple are working with NVIDIA, and have launched their own AI offering, but you can’t connect any kind of GPU to any Mac that they currently sell.
I have a mini specifically because I didn’t want a surfboard for a phone.
TIL they made a second Sonic movie.
No, Apple Intelligence simply does not exist on any iPhone below a 15 Pro.
As the owner of a 13 Mini; what’s that?
We didn’t get anything at all from 18.1. There is literally nothing on my phone to tell me that it exists.
However, I do have it on both of my Macs, and have yet to do anything with it. I’m not in any hurry to bother either.
I acquired the new Ted Danson/Mike Schur show, A Man on the Inside a few days ago. Given that it’s spy-coded I didn’t think it unusual when the opening scene supposedly filmed in the early '80s was in a foreign language. Figured that maybe Danson’s character is ex-KGB or some shit and that there were no subtitles because we’re not really supposed to know what he’s saying.
Yeah, no. I’d somehow managed to strip out all language files but Turkish when transcoding it from MKV to MP4.
Off the top of my head, What Dreams May Come and One Hour Photo are two wildly different types of movie, both kinda bleak in their own way, and neither what you’d turn to if you wanted a Robin Williams comedy. To some extent World’s Greatest Dad as well, though that one actually is pretty funny.
I have an M2 Air, and all mine is missing from that is the SDXC slot, third TB4 and HDMI, and honestly, it’s fine. A third TB4/USB would be nice for when I’m doing my radio show and have to plug in my controller and mic while also charing my phone, but I already have a hub so it doesn’t bother me.
That said, the limited ports on my M1 mini are quite problematic. Two TB3/USB and two USB3, but one of them is lost to a DisplayPort cable for my second monitor. So I have a desktop computer that functionally has three USB sockets, which ain’t great. But again, I have a hub, so it’s not a huge problem.
The guy who runs the instance I’m on sends out a statement every month, detailing how much he’s received in donations, what everything has cost, and how much there is leftover. Accounting for a small buffer to allow for emergencies, he donates the excess to Alzheimer’s research. We’re a Pritchett focus instance, so everyone’s happy with that.
I’ve paid far more to my Masto admin than I ever did to Twitter.
I’ve been on there two years now, so 🤷🏽♀️
Meanwhile, I’m technologically thick as shit and have no trouble using Mastodon at all. If I know someone is on there I’ll find their profile and follow them. Done.
It ain’t that complicated.
I’m enjoying this from my £28 a month 100Gb 5G contract that includes the cost of my iPhone.
(and which is about to drop to £10 a month because I’ve paid off the phone)
