If someone is complaining about windows, or raising privacy concerns that Linux would solve, or just talking about price options, then I think it’s perfectly fair to mention Linux.
Right now the biggest issue with Linux is that some software is not made for it. With more Linux market share, devs have a higher incentive to build software for Linux. Like imagine if videogame devs didn’t think they needed windows to work, or Mac to run adobe.

Ehh, it’s not like Linux is perfect. And if we want more Linux adoption it’s good to have different perspectives and be made aware of things that perhaps we haven’t thought of. It could be useful to vent about Linux through memes if we can have proper discourse and are willing to work collaboratively to solve issues.

I’m talking about not needing anything installed on the server though. Like you don’t need sudo. If the server has ssh then you can use Emacs to edit a file on it
I used to think this way. Until I found that with emacs you can edit any file on an SSH enabled computer remotely. Meaning that not only are you no longer constrained by what the computer has installed. But you can use your personality configured editor while editing that file. It’s called tramp.
BTW, with Emacs you can use vim key bindings evil-mode, so don’t stress about that.

I know when searching for pictures you can disable AI generated images.
I think the hard part for a search engine is that unless there is some kind of identifying mark on the content, how do they know that an ai didn’t write a top 10 list of pastebin alternatives?
I like Nintendo games but I won’t buy new hardware to play them.
So that means om also not in Nintendo’s target market. Which means they loose my business. But, what if they just let me play their games on my hardware? Then I could like… Give them money for those games right? An official emulator would allow for that.
If I can currently play nintendos newest and best games on my Linux PC using an open source emulator that was legally made without the help of Nintendo or its source code. It would be much simpler for Nintendo to make that emulator than random open source devs without any real resources, documentation, or source code.

Totally agree. I think another crazy thing is that Nintendo knows how easy it is to emulate their latest games when developers are doing it without source code legally.
Like imagine if nintendo just saved the effort and money they otherwise would spend on R&D, manufacturing, shipping, and promotion, litigation on new consoles every so often and just released an official emulator instead. It would be so much better for the environment to let people use their own hardware and they could just focus mostly on making games.
At minimum, they could do both and have an option to sell games to people that don’t want another device to play media that their current devices already are capable of. And slowly phase out the console.

It can be really good for text to speech and speech to text applications for disabled or people with learning disabilities.

Well for games it kind of depends on the specific DRM used and how exactly the game utilities it. DRM means digital rights management but there is a wide variety of DRM and ways it’s used.
Some DRM might limit the amount of computers software can be installed on, some might verify the contents to ensure none of the files were changed, some might authenticate with a server before starting up, and some might have kernel level access to read your RAM and log your keystrokes.
I’d also like to add that the yakuza series used for this picture are great games that now come with DRM, unless you buy them on GOG.
I bought a big bundle of the games through steam on sale and Yakuza: Like a Dragon came with DRM on steam. Buy on GOG, its the same game but DRM free.
I should have waited for the GOG sale, now I might pirate it to play the game I bought without DRM.
