Have you tried the mouse and keyboard mod for GoldenEye? I imagine it makes everything incredibly easy but it could be different enough to justify a playing one more time
Big fan of SBC gaming, open source engine recreations/source ports, gaming in general, alternative operating systems, and all things modding.
Trying to post and comment often in an effort to add to Lemmy’s growth.

Having to rely on reading and retaining information in manuals is a big thing that keeps me away from a lot of DOS games
I was considering playing Warframe a while back because I was a fan of Dark Sector but the reviews I saw online mentioned an incredible amount of grinding. Do you think it’s worth picking up for someone who isn’t into that kind of thing?
Have you ever tried Morroblivion?
Stardew Valley. I was a big fan of Harvest Moon FOMT and kept hearing that I should play it and when I did was I blown away. It felt incredibly similar and 90% of the time I thought “It would be nice if this is a feature” it was
Are there collections of that or would I be doing what I am now and checking individual files?
Searching aspect ratio and 4:3 doesn’t seem to pull up much
I think that may not be on them. I think it would be a matter of tweaking the FFmpeg core in RetroArch but I don’t know if it has live video cropping as a feature especially when within the confines of RetroArch. Scaling? Maybe but that’s not really what I’m after.
Searching online I am getting either command line options or unrelated results about CRT gaming.
Yeah. I feel like the headline also misrepresented the extent of what happened.
But the firm rejected claims about the extent of the damage caused by the unnamed individual, saying they “contain some exaggerations and inaccuracies”
Is probably the key takeaway and a good summary of what the article is about
It’s like how a lot of parents these days don’t think their “jailbroken” Firestick is pirating
Would the collection just keep growing or would you delete content? Maybe periodically so if you haven’t watched the new Bettlejuice movie within a couple weeks it would get deleted? Maybe they wouls hold onto stuff until you’ve got it and watched it?
The idea of versioning it with your family stash is neat
I feel like that’s a lot of boiler plate stuff. It reminds me of Tom Scott’s video on VPN sponsorships not admitting they can be used as tools for piracy
The lack of interest in it even amongst tech communities and bridges (they can link Matrix servers and Discord servers) constantly being down has kept me from giving Matrix a second chance.
I think it was a Linux gaming community last time that got flooded with hate content after the bridge went down and the Matrix side was left to itself.
I think they’re aware of your stash of full Family Guy episodes on Youtube featuring random zooms.
Also doesn’t the RIAA only cover the music industry?
The obscure content thing is an issue I’ve run into especially looking for ~70s era sci-fi or horror movies that are regarded as cult classics or underrated online.
If you are looking for software you might want to look for websites that list open source projects.
I can’t really think of decent mega lists though. The FMHY one does have a lot of simply free things but it is mixed in with a lot of pirated content.
I wonder what specifically is causing this issue
It probably doesn’t help that it’s abandonware and was limited largely to the PC and Xbox 360.
A lot of people only hear about it in “top abandonware games” lists that would mention it and games like Alpha Protocol which was recently relisted.
Do you have any other games where the first hour was extremely enjoyable?
I felt that way about Returnal
I feel like 2006 was a bit like a rollercoaster. You kind of just enjoy the ride and eagerly await what’s coming next. It helps it’s a relatively short game by today’s standards with HowLongToBeat saying it will take seven hours to complete.
I get you. I’ve been going through a lot of “best of” lists for various consoles and it’s tough going back and playing them because they were obviously made for a younger audience and and having never played them as a kid I don’t really feel the same pull.
The Kirby games are a big one. I’ve seen a lot of recommendations but can’t really get into them.
