I really really really hope not. Butttt, IIRC Romulus happens between Alien and Aliens.

It’s nice and works very well, but lacks a user base.
Actually, yes there is! Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. massgrave.dev
Agreed!
Huh super interesting, this just made me look it up. USB does in fact use compression, but how much will depend on the bitrate set in the Oculus Link app.
I don’t VR that much, but I remember using wired USB with Oculus Link without tinkering, and I couldn’t tell that it was compressed, ever. Like crystal clear output, no signs of artifacting or anything.
Which is wild to me, since DisplayPort over USB-C is a thing. I just looked and it’s capable of 4k@60Hz with 24bit color and no compression. So I guess it’s just a limitation of the Quest 2’s XR2 chip.
After a quick search it looks like Quest 2 over USB can use Steam VR’s super sampling. Since it’s baked into SteamVR, it seems like basically all connection methods can use it.
Thanks for the heads up, I would have never guessed it uses compression!
I only use Eternity on my phone and I can see it working?
For my Quest 2, if I play PCVR over USB I get 0 compression? I only notice compression when using air link, virtual desktop, or Steam link.
The original leaks and speculation for Deckard were that it’s a regular PCVR headset for use wireless or wired. And that standalone was something extra to buy, that mounted to the back of the head strap and connected to the HMD.
Yes I did. I only edited my original comment to cross out “along side.”
Alongside was poor word choice. Regardless Valve now has a history of releasing their own games for their new hardware. Alyx for the Index, and Aperture Desk Job for Steam Deck.
Cite? Its all just speculation… Even my comment is just speculation and prediction…
Thanks, I hate it.
!I’m saving it to be a menace in friends’ Discord!<
Its probably a Half Life: Alyx sequel. Which is mega hype because that is the best VR game ever.
Spoiler:
! G-man unexpectedly plays a huge role in the game towards the end, to the point he’s so powerful you’re not sure he’s human.!<
That plus Valve’s next VR headset codenamed Deckard is gotta be right around the corner, with the controller leaks. Alyx released along side the Valve Index to show it off. Lastly the marketing info for SteamOS being show combined with rumors Deckard may be a stand alone VR headset, or an optional add-on.
Man, years ago I grabbed an add-on for WoW that made a database of everything across all characters. It tracked gold, items, etc, and playtime… I was not prepared to see i had over a year of playtime… Which granted, includes AFK and time in queues, but still.
Yep, people have had to use alternative Discord clients on Linux for quite some time.
For anyone curious: Vesktop, ripcord, webcord, and armcord are the ones I tried at some point.
Hah, I just like spreading the good word of piracy. Especially Discord since their app is a piece of shit.
Oh no, not my free account.
Thanks for the heads up, though!
I don’t fully understand how Discord works, but apparently certain Nitro perks are just client side toggles. I only use it for streaming 1080@60fps, so I’m not sure about things like emojis, and after that I don’t even know what other Nitro perks exist.
Sorry autocorrect!
You can fake a Nitro subscription for free higher quality streaming. Look up Vendord, it hardens Discord for better security, adds themes, and plugins. One such plugin is fake Nitro.
Edit: Vencord. Got autocorrected.
Also adding I have only used fake Nitro for streaming quality. So I have no idea if it works for emojis or whatever other Nitro perks there are.
Retail has become a very tiring roller coaster. Season by season things shift wildly from mega fun, to dog shit. And it makes no sense. The WoW team has to have all the metrics on what people like and don’t like, yet they’ll go double down and try something that was universally hated just 1-2 years ago. The biggest is when they cater to casual players, everyone loves it. So 1-2 seasons later they cater to the hardcore and everyone leaves and the game sucks.
