I remember when I first moved here I even called Verizon first. The rep told me, plain and flatout, that comcast, his competitor, was who I had to call, and there was no other provider in my area.

That just leaves us nowhere to go though. We know artists aren’t paid enough, but if our only answer is the one that clearly takes them out of business, then it’s just sitting on a soapbox while another company comes in and does the same thing.

Either the solution has to be feasible or someone will eventually show up to ignore it.

To reemphasize, this is regarding “they have the market because they’re free”, it’s not regarding something else like just paying the artists more, or getting a better deal with labels.

Free is literally why they have the market they have. Completely silly point.

You can’t assume the price point changes and the market remains the same as well. It’s more complicated than that. We literally have talks of people leaving Netflix every other week from the constant changes being made this year.

Companies are also a shitshow who defrauds consumers. Especially ISPs. I don’t see how this is remotely an argument.

Like it isn’t even an argument. ISPs rank highest among the worst companies in the country.

I feel like the fact an ISP can just flatout say that should really scream oligopoly issues. Not just the fact the other company is just as bad, but the fact that they (the competitor) is fully aware that the switch is too costly to do.

Even a whale can decide to just spend more money on a game they like more. It’s not an endless market for companies to delve into.

Mainly because Youtube red exists and it’s main sell is removing ads, but we already know the answer to that. (Most people don’t actually want to buy the service)

And it’s not like it’s shitty service. It’s Youtube without ads.

So is this basically saying youtube isn’t allowed to detect an adblocker?

I’m not sure I really follow why that specifically is something they’re policing.
