No. Gen X weren’t parents until the internet was more or less in every household already and they aren’t as prone to misinformation as boomers (though certainly not immune).

Ahh didn’t know that. How dumb. Well the first mistake is being part of lemmyworld lol
Because they were the generation teaching the first group of kids growing up with the internet and they were actually very right to tell us that. Their role is unique. The generation matters. There’s your insight.
When HBO dropped Westworld I lost my shit lmao like really? You can’t even keep your own show? Unsubscribed after that.
That’s the beauty of the fediverse - no they don’t!
The tragic irony of boomers is they told all their kids “don’t believe everything you read on the internet” and then failed to internalize the lesson for themselves.
Oh damn that’s YOUR photo lmao
It’s easy to feel like you know nothing when A) there’s seemingly infinite depth to a skill and B) there are so many options.
You’re letting perfection stop you from starting my dude. Dive in!
Facebook is actually a bit of a mystery at this point. They stopped reporting DAU’s their numbers are so lackluster and they have burned a small nation’s budget on “The Metaverse” with nothing to show. Then they cut jobs, applaud, and stock goes up. A lot of folks are scratching their heads over but Wall Street loves it regardless.
Dude the value google gets out of creators’ videos vastly outstrips the paltry “share” they give them. If you aren’t consistently dropping multiple videos with 5-10,000,000 views a month you can’t make it And in order to hit those numbers you must resort to scummy and clickbait-y tactics. You’re lucky if you don’t burnout from the required output to make it financially viable.
Fuck google, fuck YouTube premium/ads. Freetube all day.
Uhhh I may be the idiot lol your interpretation arguably makes more sense
Not an element. It’s a massive demand.
and then everyone completely forgot about
You need to expand your sources of information. Threads is shit, I agree, but it is actually getting solid usage. You’re going off vibes on places like Lemmy.
This is basically the central thesis of The Social Dilemma.
It would open the floodgates for every media company to demand the same thing. No way they want to comply with this.
Interesting. It just gets bloated with magnets?
Perhaps it is balanced you just want it to be more in line with your views?
I have never met anybody who said “yes, this community is perfectly balanced.” Everyone always thinks it needs to get more in line with their beliefs and values
Forums and communities like these were very important for me growing up in the rural US South
I don’t need one provider with everything, in fact that would lead to a terrible media environment. But I do think your price should be appropriate for the quality of your catalog, and as the catalogs get worse they’re all increasing their prices.
Ideally I would want to see zero advertisements in my life but I am capable of compromise. If you want to throw ads because something is otherwise free, I don’t know man that’s fair play if you ask me. We live in a capitalist society, you have to keep the lights on somehow. But if I’m paying money I don’t want see a single ad anywhere.
The oldest gen X were 30 by 1995. The vast majority were not even old enough to be parents. By 2000 the oldest were 35 the youngest 20.
